THE GIRL CODE

Though we never speak them out loud, there are important rules of friendship that safeguard your relationship now and forever. To make sure you always adhere to the girl code, never ever do any of the following:

I - STEAL YOUR BESTIE'S GUY
Chances are six months he'll be off the scene and the thing you will really be heartbroken about is losing your BFF.

II - NEGLECT YOUR BFF FOR YOUR NEW BOYFRIEND.
It's fine that you and your guy have time alone but make sure you also set aside regular time to be with your bestie so that she feels needed and important.

III - BE BRUTALLY HONEST
Sure she asked you if she;s gained weight or her new haircut is a disaster or if you think sometimes she talks too much. She's fishing for reassurance so give it in bucket loads - but stick to little white lies rather than the truth.

IV - BAD-MOUTH YOUR BESTIE
It doesn't matter what she did and how angry you are - write it down in a journal, but whatever you do, DON'T tell another friend. Otherwise word may get round that you've been bitching about her and it could be curtains for your friendship.

V -  COMPETE
Learn to love the qualities that make her special and celebrate them rather than trying to outdo them - by setting this tone she will trust you and love the best in  you as well.

VI - GO OUT WITH HER GOOD FRIEND
It's OK if she invited you and you've all been hanging out as a gang - but catching up with a friend she introduced you to without inviting her along as well is just bad, bad form - and she is unlikely to forget that kind of hurtful exclusion
